“A part of your heart is the greatest gift you can give another. Just be kind. You may be the only kindness someone will find.”* © 2013 Doris Hayes Gibson
This Christmas season, it isn’t surprising that most of us are under mounds of stress. We are hurrying to get last-minute details completed, and it seems there is never enough time within the day.
This week, along with the routine of the rush with the busyness of people around me, I was faced with an unexpected passing of a dear friend. At the same time, another sweet friend had to say her last goodbye to her precious mother. The funerals were back-to-back, and I felt torn with the dilemma as to where I should be. My heart was broken, and I knew I couldn’t possibly be in two places at one time.
While I was praying for guidance, I was reminded that God knows our hearts so well. Although we can only be stretched so far, we can still offer our love and kindness in ways that will be comforting to the bereaved. “Love speaks many languages, yet is comprehended by few.”* I choose to be among the few who understand how to love beyond my means. Although some may not accept my love, I will continue to offer it, unconditionally.
As you find your way to the true beauty of the Christmas season, I ask you to choose to speak love and be love to all around you. There will be many who will not acknowledge your attempts, but do not be disheartened. Some may not understand how to receive love. Pray for them, and continue to be the Light that shines in their darkness. You just might be the only Light they will see.
Merry Christmas to all! And to everyone Peace and Joy through Christ Jesus, the Savior of all mankind. He came to save us from our sins. His love is pure and true, and it will never fail.
