Sometimes, tears are the only way of expressing our pain, our joy, our excitement, or even
reservations about life. Tears can be a tremendous release. We should never hold back our feelings. Holding them inside can cause more pain. God can turn that pain into joy! Begin to praise Him in the good times as well as the tough times. You will begin to notice a change in the way you view life. God loves the praises of His children.
Attentively, my mind begins to focus on the raindrops,
Falling lavishly outside my window—
Reminders of soul-crushing tears
When life’s misfortunes bathed my face
With such unforgiving sorrow.
Thoughts of heartache and hopelessness return—
Memories of feeling isolated and frightened of this world,
Pain-filled nights when sweet slumber
Refused to enter my room,
And times when disappointment plagued my being.
However, as I now pay closer attention,
My heart is moved by the echo of each raindrop
And tears escape their hiding place,
Cascading down my cheeks, even more hastily than before.
The tears falling so freely today are none of sadness.
Their purpose evolved from the heavens—
Reminders of God’s infinite love and grace.
It spills upon my cheeks
And seeks the gentle embrace within my soul.
Father, You are my Hope and my Healer.
When days grow lonely and nights become weary,
You are there, and You understand my suffering.
You hold me in the palm of Your mighty hand.
You touch the depths of my pain
And abolish all my fears,
Turning my mourning into tears of joy.
Again, I watch as these raindrops trickle down my window pane,
And their performance makes me smile.
I am now able to appreciate the beauty in their display;
For they offer cleansing to all they fall upon,
Just as my teardrops will purify my soul…
One drop at a time.
